Scratch another one off the Bucket ListLast night I drove a late model v8 stock car for the first time on a local short track. While I’ve driven plenty of powerful street cars on street rubber, I had a hard time acclimating to the stiffly sprung circle-track car and its twelve inch Goodyear qualifying slicks. Even when pushing pretty hard, the chassis and tires gave back so little feedback that it was impossible for me to feel where the limits were. This was also my first time running on an oval of any kind, and the concrete barriers lining the track made me reluctant to push the car harder than 8 or 9/10’s.  Driving under the lights at night was fun, but driving the car itself was less so - although I’d certainly do it again.  After all, who says no to 600 horsepower?

  1. super-high-output answered: Nobody does! I know it’s a NASCAR stock car, but I would still want a shot at driving it just as much as anything I could get my hands on.
