So it turns out that the most compelling review video of the Ferrari 458 is not much of a review at all. Just watching this car dance and hearing the mechanical symphony unleashed by its engine is evidence enough that this car is simply amazing.
I must find a way to get behind the wheel of one of these.

Today I went for a ride in my friends brand new Telsa S Model. This is a 416 HP electric high end luxury sedan that makes over 400 foot pounds of TQ INSTANTLY. It was amazing. The 4500lb car gets to 60mph from a dead stop in 4.4 seconds while making absolutely zero noise…..very weird experience to say the least.

Totally jealous. Tell us more!

When I see how much fun the vintage racers are having, how relaxed the atmosphere is at the track and how awesome the classic cars are at the Mitty Speedfest each spring, I wonder why I’m not out there racing with them. This movie really stokes that desire. If I keep looking, maybe I’ll find a cheap, race-ready Sprite or MG buried in the online classifieds…

“My elderly co-worker Serio is an ex-Ferrari mechanic who wrenched for the team back in the 60’s and 70’s. He will ask me to pull up a chair and tell random stories out about when he was growing up, working on Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, Alfa’s, ect. He comes in today with some old pictures of himself with the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO #3987 he worked on back in the late 60’s.

“This particular chassis is the one that Roger Penske won the 12 Hours of Sebring with in back in 1963 (in GT), was later driven by Alain de Cadenet and is now owned by Ralph Lauren.

“In the photo, Serio is in the red check shirt and the guy in the white shirt with the pipe is Dr. Baumgardner, the car’s owner at that time. Note that the car had the orange lights on the roof that were needed to run at Le Mans.”

So the Tesla Model S Actually Exists
When Tesla announced the plans for this car back in 2008, I was among the doubters who assumed it would be forever vaporware. Maybe 1,000 Model S sedans have been produced since production began this summer and all are sold through a handful of Tesla retailers in California. I live several thousand miles away, so I was pretty shocked to see one of these new cars in the wild. Props to Elon Musk for keeping the dream of a practical electric car alive.
